Problem solved (preliminarily )!
My mesh was too coarse. Refining it gave immediate convergence and a reasonable result.

Re: Thermal resistance of a given geometry
Hi again, the test with the simple geometry was successful. The heat flux seems indeed to be in W/m^2. So now I tried my geometry again, and apparently ran into numerical problems. The convergence is poor (the solver complains about "Failed convergence tolerances", where for my test case w...

Re: Thermal resistance of a given geometry
Thank you, Eelis! I did not find a radio button in ElmerGUI, but it seems to work without the "Heat Flux BC = True" command. I made a first test run. The convergence is poor, and the results are not very convincing. I will now make a test with a veery simple geometry where I can check the ...

Re: Thermal resistance of a given geometry
Sound like a good idea. I have never used the heat flux BC before. As far as I understand from the manual, I have to impose a temperature nevertheless, which confuses me somehow. I certainly miss something here. But what?

Thermal resistance of a given geometry
Hi, I want to determine the thermal resistance of a given geometry between a heat source and a heat sink. Naively the easiest way would be to set the two ends of my geometry to two different temperatures. Then I would expect the heat equation solver to calculate the thermal resistance. But how do I ...

Re: changing the label color
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. The label color tab opens a color palette, but the selection is not applied to the labels, ane not stored either. On next open, it is set to white again.
A solution would be very welcome...
Thank you,
Matthias

Re: savempg parameters for Windows
Update: vlc player can also play my animations, but the video window closes so quickly that I cannot hit the pause button if I want to look at some picture more closely. I have found no way to make vlc not close the window immediately at the end of the animation. For some reason I cannot access the ...

Re: Concatenate animations
Hi Peter, I had seen the information in the Wiki, but it did not answer my question - your hint made me find the solution: I have my data in different ep files, since at every solver restart a new one is generated containing just the newly calculated data. I start making an animation out of the firs...

View zero-th frame in transient simulations
Hi,
is there a way to view the initial state (zreo-th frame) in a animation? I always see the state _after_ the first timestep in ElmerPost, but I would also like to sse the state _before_ the first timestep.
Thank you,
Matthias

savempg parameters for Windows
Hi, I have a problem making animations for Windows XP. I have Windows Media Player, Real Player and Quicktime installed. For Quicktime, only the MPG1 codec gives playable results. But since I cannot assume everybody to have Quicktime installed, I want to generate something playable with Media Player...
