Re: Scalar field inconsistency at geometry face border?

Hello alltogether, thank you so far for your hypotheses and proposals. I did some more digging myself as well, and came to a thought that lastly proved to be the solution. Up to that Point however, we were all wrong  The reason for the inconsistency seems to be the specific mesh density confi...

Re: Scalar field inconsistency at geometry face border?

Alright, I'll try this, although this is quite cumbersome. To the extend of proper Display on the Screen, I was not able to find inconsistencies inside Salome. This brings me to a Point I did not mention before: I also transform the mesh using ElmerGrid. elmergrid 8 2 mesh.unv -autoclean -scale 0.00...

Re: Scalar field inconsistency at geometry face border?

Good afternoon Matthias, thanks for this hint, however this was and is Standard procedure for me. Although it is only one volume Body, I use the Partition function and drive the mesh Groups from geometry Groups created within the Partition. So here the inconsitency exists although it is no multibody...

Re: Scalar field inconsistency at geometry face border?

Hi and thanks for the quick Reply,

I tried now to merge nodes and Elements in my mesh - the functions found a handful of nodes and Elements and merged them, but not as many as to make up the whole Zone "1". Currently the solution is running again, I'll Report out on the results.

BR, Thomas.

Scalar field inconsistency at geometry face border?

Hi Elmer community, as I found very competent help here for my few past questions, I'd like to tap this ressource once more for a Problem that I don't get fixed on my own, as it seems. I am performing a Navier-Stokes calculation of a simple case, and I get inconsistent results that seemingly depend ...

Re: One of the Boundaries lost from Salome to Elmer

Hi everybody, I finally figured out a good and robust way to get things in order when importing a mesh. I also came across the thought that this may have been meant by kevinarden, but I didn't immediately get the Point. I now generate in Salome the mesh and Export it to UNV. Using the commandline el...

Re: One of the Boundaries lost from Salome to Elmer

Good morning to all, thank you for the suggestions and sorry for not replying earlier. It sometimes takes me a while to return to work with ElmerFEM :) I tried the -autoclean Option under the configure-dialogue in the section "elmergrid", and it did Change things - now the faces that were numbered 2...

One of the Boundaries lost from Salome to Elmer - solved

Hi altogether, although I found a personal work-around for this issue, I'd like to post it here still. I am using Salome for digesting STP files into meshes, or for creating models from scratch to form meshes. The meshes get a Group of solid for each Body and a Group of faces for each boundary. Howe...

Re: Calculating hydrodynamic lifting

Hi Peter and others, finally, I am able to Report out on my latest experiences for modelling hydrodynamic lift. Using the given hint, I was able to get my model running properly, and when this happened, I decided to make a small go-around to make sure I am on par with theory on my results. I modeled...

Re: Calculating hydrodynamic lifting

Hi Peter, thank you for the Swift reply. Indeed, this was a major change, although it was just one component of one boundary condition. Convergence on turbulence is now better, and the pressure distribution now is totally different. I'll have to review tomorrow what I got in detail. I'll come back w...
