Re: `Save Boundaries Only` with MagnetoDynamics

Thank you very much for the thoughts & info -- it's most helpful. would require a choice which values to follow on the boundary This is indeed a problem that I've had in this project. I had wondered if I could control the "side" of the boundary through normal orientation, but after som...

`Save Boundaries Only` with MagnetoDynamics

I am solving a (3D) magnetostatics problem on an unstructured mesh, chaining together `WhitneyAV`, `MagnetoDynamicsCalcFields` and `ResultOutputSolver` in a fairly standard way. This example is conceptually close to my "real" problem: https://github.com/ElmerCSC/elmer-elmag/tree/main/Solen...

Re: WhitneyAVSolver unphysical B field when currents "close" to steel

Hi Peter, Thanks very much for the pointer -- I've been experimenting with this option this morning and it helps a lot! With a little fiddling (*), I now get sensible B fields out: solenoid_0_happier.png Tom (*) initially after making this change I found that the WhitneyAV solve diverged. By adding ...

Re: WhitneyAVSolver unphysical B field when currents "close" to steel

Hi Peter, Thanks very much for the reply. Unfortunately we don't have a theoretical or other reference right now. I've been poking around a little more at the `jfix` calculation. I think this might be the source of the issue, since actually the $g_s$ that's being calculated right now does have non-n...

Re: WhitneyAVSolver unphysical B field when currents "close" to steel

Just to add, I've tried a couple more things: - use a uniform mesh size (i.e. just as fine at the edge of the airbox as on the surface of the material regions) - use a hexahedral rather than tetrahedral mesh In both cases I see the same vortex pattern as in the images above. I wasn't necessarily exp...

WhitneyAVSolver unphysical B field when currents "close" to steel

We're finding that we get unphysical magnetic fields when we have current densities "near" to regions of high magnetic permeability. To demonstrate this I've setup a small toy example of a 3x1x1 cuboid of 'steel' (relative permeabilty of 5000), surrounded by a closed coil model. The gap be...

PPA for ubuntu 22.04

Hello - is this the correct place to ask about the Ubuntu PPA please? If so, we are wondering if there are plans to add support 22.04 LTS in the near future? We're using a number of cloud instances which currently are pinned to 20.04, but we'd like to move to 22.04 when possible. From here: https://...
