Re: Point data in parallel runs [SOLVED]

Hi,

Thank you Kevin for properly diagnosing the problem and thank you Peter for fixing it. I usually extract point data using paraview but I wanted
to compared it with Elmer since you can directly interpolate from the edge elements.

Cheers,

Point data in parallel runs [SOLVED]

Hi all, There seems to be a problem during parallel execution when trying to save point data using savescalars. The solver crashes when searching for an element close to the point within partitions that do not contain the specified point. I have added a very simply case for testing. If I do not use ...

Re: Zirka hysteresis model

Hi Kevin,

Thanks again for helping. Nonlinear iterations are converging, even without the relative permeability input as expected
if the BH curve is provided.

Re: Zirka hysteresis model

Hi Kevin, Thanks for the suggestion. I added the line to the sif file and results did change, but just a little bit. The outstanding issues remain. In my opinion, there are two: 1. The evolution of the BH curve is not correct hysteresis_1.gif 2. Shape is not close to input. I am not sure why 1 is ha...

Zirka hysteresis model

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone with some experience with Zirka materials can let me know if this is a bug or I am missing something. This is a simple case of a coil and a piece of metal (Low frequency, no eddy currents, metal conductivity =0). Case with single BH curve works as expected, but when...

Re: Objects relative positions and EM study

Hi giulian, You might be thinking on something like this: animation.gif You can easily replicate it if you use salome and dakota in the pipeline. You can change Salome for gmsh if you want, I prefer to use Salome for all my meshing tasks. I haven't been able to get good results with mortar and edge ...

Re: WhitneyAVHarmonicSolver and Electric Current Density

Hi Juris, Sorry, I guess my comment sounded like I was suggesting something new or insightful. I assumed that you of course knew about it, and that you had a good reason to do it this way. The point I was trying to make was that the case converged when you don't use the current density as BC with th...

Re: WhitneyAVHarmonicSolver and Electric Current Density

Hi, As a follow-up to to Rich_B's comment, the zero solution is because you also need to modify the first line of the sif file, otherwise boundaries are not correctly assigned. I think, and I might be mistaken, that you cannot force the current density in this geometry to be constant due to skin eff...

Re: Mgdyn simulation problem (is it boundary conditions?)

Hi,

Try modifying your materials' parameters:
- Relative Permeability of air is 1
- Relative Permeability of a permanent magnet is approx 1.05

Re: Magnetic field with symmetry planes

Hi, Please keep sharing comparisons with Opera, I think this type of work is very important to increase Elmer's reputation for electromagnetic simulations. I will play with the mesh you uploaded and report back later. One more thing, I think you need a mesh with quadratic elements to use the quadrat...
