Re: Linear Solver:BiCGStab/CG/CGS related question
Hello Peter, Thank you for the advice. I am currently implementing some of them. I have two questions in the meantime: 1. If the coefficient matrix "A" for my problem is not symmetric and/or positive definite, would Elmer raise an error if I use CG as the linear solver? 2. Is it incorrect ...

Linear Solver:BiCGStab/CG/CGS related question
Hello everyone, I have a question concerning usage of CG (or CGS) linear solver instead of BiCGStab. BiCGStab is the default one setup in Elmer and I have not changed the default settings. However, I wanted to explore if CG or CGS would be a better solver for my simulation in terms of better converg...

Elmer update in the Linux Mint 18.3 64bit VA failed
Hello everyone, I was having some problems with Elmer on my native Ubuntu OS. So I downloaded the Virtual box file from http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/physics/elmer/bin/VirtualMachines/ and followed the instructions in http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/physics/elmer/bin/VirtualMachines/Readme1st.txt ...

Re: MagnetoDynamics2D simulation question
Hi Peter, The iron is a part of a sphere. In the figure, I am assuming I am looking at the hemispherical cross-section. As you mention, if I am indeed modeling it as a cylinder, then it might explain the discrepancy. This means that I will have to use the 3D solver to attack this problem of a sphere...

MagnetoDynamics2D simulation question
Hello everyone, I have a question on 2D static magnetic field simulation. My goal is to compute the magnetic field distribution around experimental setup in our precision physics experiment. The experimental setup is immersed in a uniform magnetic field pointing along a certain direction. First, I a...

Re: MagnetoDynamics; WhitneyAVSolver; Uniform B-field
Hello Kevin, Thank you for the prompt reply. You are using the following boundary conditions (from your SIF file): Boundary Condition 1 Target Boundaries(1) = 3 Name = "Uniform_flux_pos_z_axis" Magnetic Flux Density 3 = Real 1.0 End Boundary Condition 2 Target Boundaries(1) = 1 Name = &quo...

MagnetoDynamics; WhitneyAVSolver; Uniform B-field
Hello everyone, I am a new user of Elmer and large numerical simulations in general. I have worked through some of the magnetic field calculation tutorials and read through relevant parts of the solver and the models manual and other slides on the Elmer website. I work on precision physics experimen...
