Hi Peter,
Thank you so much for the response. So are you saying that i should remove the infinity BCs and try to run it repeatedly and that would give me the same results every time?
Also, yes ill try out a testcase for which i know the answer.
Thank you.
Ajay

Running a capacitance calculation flow repeatedly
Hi, So i created a simple testcase consisting of 2 cuboid shaped metals inside a large dielectric. I have attached the gmsh file, sif file and the bash script i run repeatedly to see if the capacitance values change with every run. So I noticed that the capacitance values do change significantly. Co...

Output file from ElmerSolver like .vtu
Hi there,
So I know that we can output a .vtu file and visualize the electric field lines and stuff using paraview. Is there any output file format, that gives you the electric field or electric energy at each mesh element in a readable format?
Thank you.

Re: Issue with Material in Electrostatics solver
I went through the tutorials and wondered if there are testcases which contain the .sif and mesh files that comes with elmer, for the tutorial which has 2 balls inside a larger one to calculate capacitance

Re: Issue with Material in Electrostatics solver
So the bodies 15-20 belong to the dielectric box. I was not sure whether the dielectrics get a reference to an equation.
And thank you, I'll surely check out the GUI tutorials to see if I find something similar to what I'm trying to do.

Re: Issue with Material in Electrostatics solver
In my setup i have 2 capacitance bodies surrounded by a large dielectric. I added a material for both my capacitance bodies as copper and i was able to get past the above error, but the solution it gave says it is trivially zero. Hi, I created a sif file using the ElmerGUI by opening a .msh file. The sif file that i created is attached below. When i run ElmerSolver case.sif it gives me this error:- StatElecSolve: Electrostatic iteration: 1 StatElecSolve: Starting Assembly... WARNING:: ListFind: WARNING:: ListFind: Requested ...

Re: ElmerSolver input file
Hi, under "Simulation", write Post File = test.vtu Do you write your sif file by hand from scratch? If you are new to Elmer, I would suggest that you use ElmerGUI at least as starting point for the first simulations, unless you have very special requirements which are not covered by Elmer...

Re: ElmerSolver input file
Hi, there is some information on the CoilSolver and the magnetodynamics solver in the ModelsManual. That might answer your first question. If you want vtu output, just set the extension of the "Post File" to .vtu. One file will be written for each timestep in a transient simulation. HTH, ...
