Re: "SaveData" "SaveScalars" in parallel

Hi All, Having reread the solver manual section on Saving Scalar Values to a File, I think that "int variance" works on the whole mesh rather than the boundary I'm interested in, unfortunately "boundary int variance" isn't available as it throws: WARNING:: SaveScalars: Unknown op...

"SaveData" "SaveScalars" in parallel

Hi Elmer users, Using Elmer Version: 9.0 (Rev: Release, Compiled: 2021-05-08) on windows 10 I'm doing a cfd/thermal problem and would like to save some data on a boundary surface using the save data procedure, in particular the min, max and mean temperature and the temperatures variance over the nam...

Re: Elmer does not tag when calculation is finished in multicore

Hi Peter,
Is there a call of some sort that could be added to the end of the sif file that terminates the run?
Regards

problem Mesh Levels in parallel run

Hi All, OS Ubuntu 20.04 I'm trying to use Mesh Levels = 2 in the simulation section of a parallel run using 8 cores and iterative solvers for a coupled heat and fluid flow problem. The simulation runs OK without the "Mesh Levels = 2" entry but with it Elmer crashes with the following outpu...

windows mpi binary with MUMPS

Hi I'm running a 3D conjugate heat problem and can only run with the MUMPS solver on my UBUNTU machine where I get a solution, on my windows machine I can only use iterative solvers which I can't get to converge with a fine hex mesh :( , so is there a precompiled windows mpi binary with MUMPS availa...

Meshing software

Hi, I have recently become aware of coreform's CUBIT software https://coreform.com/ which is available for free for meshes up to 50000 elements, it is from the CUBIT stable so should be quite powerful, I was wondering if there are any Elmer users who use CUBIT for their meshing process and if so wha...

Re: elmersolver_mpi doesn't exit on completion

Hi All
Since originally posting in 2016 I can confirm that I haven't found a solution other than to run the solver under Linux (Ubuntu) if a solution is found for windows I would still be interested.

elmersolver_mpi crashes on exit

Hi All I'm running Elmer Version: 8.3 (Rev: cd07b731, Compiled: 2018-10-10) on a windows 7 pro 64 bit machine and get the following problem when the calculation finishes. Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: elmersolver_mpi.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Ti...

Re: Conjugate heat transfer problem

Hi Peter, you asked Q: "Are you sure that your heat is not convected away at the outlet"? Indeed it is, in the model the heat cannot leave by any other means. The problem is that the warm fluid leaving the system has more energy than that supplied via the heat flux BC, by 20% more in my li...

Re: Conjugate heat transfer problem

Hi, Just a quick update. I have run an all linear tet mesh problem, GMSH mesh file size 170Mb (650000 fluid tets 2330000 solid tets), this runs to completion on 8 processors in 20 mins. The mesh is converted to 2nd order 10 node tets in GMSH (incomplete elements) producing a GMSH file of size 565Mb,...
