Re: Eigenvalues in Axi Symmetric 2D

Hallo Peter, from a axi symmetric 2D stress solver analysis doing looking for eigen frequencies: when I get eigenvalues I do not know, how to convert them to the frequency. If I sqrt(Eigenvalue)/(2*Pi) this gives wrong values, but sqrt(Eigenvalue/(2*Pi)) is closer, but still not correkt. Any issue I...

Re: how to compile elmerfem under Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Der Sirs,
thank you for the info of how-to-install Elmer in Ubuntu 16.04.
But I am interested in how-to-compile it under Ubuntu 16.04 (I need to write a New solver).

how to compile elmerfem under Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Dear Sirs,

I run a VM running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with Windows as host to be able to compile Elmerfem.
Could some write down the steps in a simple way, because what I find in wiki or in the forum seems to be outdated.
kind regards,
Alfred.

Re: Eigenvalues in Axi Symmetric 2D

Hallo Peter, I want to analyze an ultrasonic mechanical system. My knowledge is limited, which I can use next to StressSolver. Problem is: I know the contour of the rotational symmetric situation which I would like to set - up with parameters. So my sketch would be 2D. Then I would like to check the...

Eigenvalues in Axi Symmetric 2D

Hallo,

Is Eigenvalue calculation reasonable and doable in 2 D ?

Re: Axi Symmetric BC for heat solver

Hallo Peter, Sorry for all the issue at all: it was a fault I had in my data transfer from the elmer output text file to spreadsheet (had an issue with libreoffice upgrade that mixed my values up). So Elmer did excatly what what one would expect. Sorry for causing inconvenience to answering. kind re...

Re: Axi Symmetric BC for heat solver

Hallo Peter, Thank you for your answer. If I understand you correctly, I can keep the same BC values: i.e. the heat transfer coefficient does not need to be changed when switching from 3D to axi symmetric 2D. What I did so far: I did what I learnt from your various replies in this forum: The x-axis ...

Axi Symmetric BC for heat solver

Dear Sirs, I still have problems in understanding how to adapt the BC for axi symmetry: In regard to radiation: As the BC cannot be different to 3D case, do I need to change the material properties to get correct heat flux ? In regard to heat flux: (specifically with heat transfer coefficient): Do I...

Re: Issue with simple heat flux into cylinder

Hallo Peter, Addition to the above: I have used smaller values (1/10) to get results, without negative temperatures. The evaluated heat flux (W) seems Ok, but the temperature rise definitely not. I have double checked it with my Finite Difference Temperature Program. I do not find my fault. In princ...
