Re: Simulation Body moving in pipe with fluid

Looks like a wind tunnel to me, so just put an axial velocity (and the two non-axial velocity to zero) on the pipe wall and a no-slip on the ball/cube. Give the end which the ball is going on the same speed of the pipe wall, and leave the other end without boundary condition and be sure is far enoug...

If I remember well, FreeCAD should also have a ship module

Re: Navier Stokes Periodic Boundary still problematic

Thank you very much Peter Before uploading this case I already tried to run in serial mode becasuse I saw something about that in this forum, but I was getting the same not-periodic results. After your reply I tried with the new sif, running serial again, and the solution with paraview gave me the s...

Re: Navier Stokes Periodic Boundary still problematic

I've made other tests, basically, periodic boundaries are simply ignored by the Navier Stokes solver. Periodic boundaries are handled at mesh/grid level, isn't it? They aren't handled directly by the solver. I'm gonna look at NavierStokes.F90 and NavierStokesGeneral.F90 code P.S: There's another iss...

Navier Stokes Periodic Boundary still problematic

Hello, looks like periodic boundaries still have issues with Navier Stokes I attach here an example, a rectangular pipe filled with air with a body force along its axis (Z axis), a no slip boundary condition on sidewalls, and a periodic boundary condition on inlet/outlet. After running the solver fo...

Re: Help for a simple CFD test case (NAN when running solver))

I always use meters when doing things for CFD =) But I think if that was the issue, then I would see some numbers before the NaN. If I disable the k-epsilon solver and remove the viscosity model from the material, the simulation run nicely. When I add the viscosity model to the material and enable t...

Re: Help for a simple CFD test case (NAN when running solver))

Hello I'm almost sure that the problem is something related with the k-epsilon turbulence model boundary settings. NaN is immediate. Here my latest attempt: a small duct (made with gmsh, dimensions are 0.1m x 0.2m x 1m length) filled with air, with a no slip boundary condition on walls, a periodic i...

Re: Parallel solver settings on Windows machine

Hi mark, should I write another topic about this runtime error R6031 on the Bug Report forum to give it more visibility?
At first I was thinking nothing to care, solution does complete, but I probably will need to run automated series too in the future

Re: Help for a simple CFD test case (NAN when running solver))

I have yet to find a fully working 3D case with k-epsilon, meanwhile I'm experimenting with many different settings and trying to document me better. However, here is my full case that refuse to run. Most settings were taken from the 2D Turbulent Incompressible Step Flow example. Is a wall law requi...

Re: Parallel solver settings on Windows machine

Tried today and all working, dunno why it didn't before but I'm happy Solutions are now fast but I get a runtime error after the ALL DONE message: ComputeChange: NS (ITER=3) (NRM,RELC): ( 0.76307386 0.20494964E-05 ) :: navier-stokes FlowSolve: iter: 3 Assembly: (s) 0.02 0.05 FlowSolve: iter: 3 Solve...
