Re: Using Body Force to Simulate Convection in a Navier-Stokes Problem

Sorry for my delayed reply. The case sifs can be found on my git repo here: https://github.com/drschrank/elmerfem The case sif are under misc/SEOPsifs. The most recent sifs that are used in this study are XePolIncomp.sif and XePolPerGas.sif. There's a fair amount of preamble that uses MATC to...

Using Body Force to Simulate Convection in a Navier-Stokes Problem

Good morning! I've been working on a relatively complex 3D multi-physics problem using Elmer for a few years now. I've been studying a particular geometry during those years, and I've recently modified the geometry to a slightly larger scale. RbGeometry.png The original geometry is posted above (ign...

Installation on Amazon Cloud Computing Instance (AWS)

Good morning! I've been attempting to install elmer on an AWS instance of Ubuntu 16.04. I've successfully installed the code locally and, for about a year now, have been testing the integration of some custom modules. I recently found that I'm memory-bound trying to do the computations locally, so I...

Re: Using ElmerSolver_mpi on a Multi-body Problem

Peter: Thanks so much. I understand. Maybe if you could help me understand first if the behaviour of ElmerGrid when using the -halo flag with metis is normal. I've tried running the ElmerGrid on one of the elmerice examples that comes bundled with the source code. Specifically, under /elmerfem/elmer...

Re: Using ElmerSolver_mpi on a Multi-body Problem

Peter: By multi-body, I do mean different bodies connected on the same mesh with different equations. I prepare these meshes using Salome to define the different bodies. Thank you so much for your quick reply and letting me know that what I am attempting is at least possible in the framework of Elme...

Using ElmerSolver_mpi on a Multi-body Problem

Good evening! I'm still fairly new to Elmer and FEM in general. I've been putting together a custom, non-linear solver module for a niche application I have, and I have run into an issue with running parallel computations with a multi-body in Elmer. I'd like to ask if it is possible in principle to ...

Re: How to start developing own modules with Elmer

Good afternoon. I'm hoping to piggyback off of this post and try to get some guidance as I dive into developing my own module. I'm relatively new to Elmer (worked with it for about a year) and to Fortran. My previous experience with FEM was with COMSOL, so I didn't have to think about the nuts and b...

Re: Installation on ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Thank you. I thought I had tried that earlier... ElmerSolver will start now, but I run into a segmentation fault error. I think this might be a bug with Elmer 8.2. The binaries of 8.2 I get from the repository run into the same problem. Perhaps this is something worth of a new thread... Or a little ...

Re: Installation on ubuntu 16.04 LTS

I'm wondering if I can join in to this conversation as well, since I'm have a similar problem. I'm also trying to compile and install Elmer onto ubuntu 16.04 using the instructions for ubuntu 14 found here: http://www.elmerfem.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3742 . I've previously successfully install...
