Re: Turbulent Flow Simulations with Elmer - A Request

Hi! Kumar, thanks for invitation. As programmer I have some basic skills but not enough to dive into Elmer FRORTRAN code. As engineer, I think, I am able to do something. I think, first of all, we should prepare and supply solution algorithm, based on some resent works, preferably in pseudo code. It...

Re: Cold flow across a hot solid

I have met the same troubles. It is numerical instabilities near high temperature gradient.

Peter gave me some tips. In fact, only mesh refining near the walls was resultative.

Re: Turbulent flow at high Reynolds number - Convergence problem

Hi guys! Here is my experiments on Kumar's case with triangular 2D mesh and 3D tetrahedral mesh. 2D mesh: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1t1cWZBrS4_wXeEv7P6h_AQwyYMrz7wG9 All is OK. 3D mesh: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1bm07ZWHiWeEDVx6cbngfW7J0rQlEZKmO God damn hard... One have to decrease Re...

Re: Elmersolver crashes when Porous Media is activated

Hi! I remember, there was nice conversation with you a year ago :D May be now I also can help you. I made a simple 2D GUI case for you (see in Mesh_1 folder), where massive composite casing of A356 alloy is crystallizing. Elmer model manual says that for porous medium flow resistivity is to be speci...

Save materials - GUI definition

Hi Elmer team!
I have made savematerials.xml.
Please check it and if it's OK, I'll be happy to see it in new Elmer release.

Re: Beginner's troubles

Hi! First issue: You can scale the mesh in ElmerGUI, just paste in Model-->Setup-->Simulation-->Free Text following instruction Coordinate Scaling = 0.001 Second issue: Heat flux q=k*dT/dn is in W/m² (Eqn. 1.18 in Models Manual). Anyway, you can use any unit system. But you have to rescale all the m...

Re: Heat simulation mesh lvl3 cylinder shape issue

Hi! Unfortunately I was not able to solve with Mesh Levels = 3 on my computer due to lack of memory (as Peter said). But I suppose,it's the mesh issue. IMHO: In the thin layers of 0.04 and 0.07 mm thickness the elements has wary sharp angles in Temp. gradient direction. After 3 splitting operations ...

I wish to upload the attachment here, but the mesh file size has exceeds the maximum allowed upload size.
Is there any ways for me to send you the file?
Thank you.
