Choosing the best iterative method / Achieve convergence

I usually use iterative methods to solve my FEM-problems. Not only because I lack the math libraries for direct solvers, but also because you can run iterative methods easily on multiple cores. However, finding the right solver settings is often more trial and error than actual knowing. Especially, ...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available

Thanks for the reply. There is an error during import and I have already checked the source and fixed it (hopefully).

Please download a new copy of the module and paste it in the directory. I have tested the new version on my machine and the module appears correctly.

Regards,
Rainer

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available

If you use the default directory then you do not have to add the system variable. So you may delete the entry. It could be possible that Salome gets confused by that. Additionally, you can check the terminal windows that appears when starting Salome for error messages. Sometimes the module is not lo...

Re: Elmer module for Salomé

Thanks for the hugs :) @Peter Unfortunately, I cannot help you with the MED-files. Additionally, I cannot see any benefits. In Salome you would have to export the mesh anyway as there is no direct access to Salomes mesh data. We currently have the mesh export directly linked to ElmerGrid. So there i...

Re: salomeToElmer - export Salome mesh to Elmer

Does your script maintain the naming of the mesh and mesh groups? If so, I could incorporate your script into my Salome plugin the emulates the Elmer GUI.

Thanks,
Rainer

Re: Elmer module for Salomé

Already implemented ;-)

Using Mesh Names was the only way to get it working in Salome. We needed the direct link between the mesh groups in Salome and the corresponding element in Elmer.

Re: Elmer module for Salomé

New update available:
The Elmer-plugin is now able to read an already existing sif-file that was previously created with the plugin itself. Hence, it is possible to continue working on a simulation without starting all over again.

Have fun,
Rainer

Re: Elmer module for Salomé

So, finished the call to the Elmer Solver. If you have MS-MPI under windows, it even runs on multiple cores. However, this is Windows-only. Don't know what the correspondent call on Linux would be. Additionally, I have implemented a small window that stays on top of the Salome window and which allow...

Re: Elmer module for Salomé

Hi, Thanks for your feedback. The error you got is a bug. I have messed up indentation. I am currently working on a call to the ElmerSolver, so that you could start the simulation from within Salome. With this release, the bug will be corrected. Unfortunately, your suggestion regarding icons/toolbar...
