And the original FreeCAD file which was used to create the solver output above. 8-)

Re: Charged conductor with floating potential

Dear Peter, I get the following 'Warning' in the Solver output if I use 'Potential constant = Logical True'. The computation is done and is also correct as can be seen with the simple benchmark model below, but it is misleading that something is wrong. I think the check for the 'listed keywords' has...

Re: unspecified extra 't' in 'Output File Name'

The idea with the "t" is just to give the user an idea to what the numbering is related to while 1) and 2) really offer new functionality. Nice. New functionality is good. If there is good reason I could take it back. No, there is no reason to take it back. Thanks for clarification. So we simply wi...

Re: unspecified extra 't' in 'Output File Name'

I would need to know if it was changed on purpose and if it will change again (or often). This is important because the result files are currently read automatically into FreeCAD (see https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=42732). If it was on purpose and it stays this way then I would ch...

unspecified extra 't' in 'Output File Name'

Hello, Am I right that until no (or several month ago) the specification of "Output File Name = File "case"" in the following .sif file produced result files like "case_0001.vtu" but now I get a result file called "case_t0001.vtu". Was this changed or did I change/oversee something? Thanks in advanc...

Computing convective heat loss without air

Hi, I came across a simulation built in simscale using calculix to compute a thermal analysis on a PCB: https://www.simscale.com/projects/ahmedhussain18/pcb_-_transient_thermal_analysis_1/ Convective heat loss is computed in this model without computing Navier-Stokes. Instead one has to specify on w...

Re: from freecad .fcstd format to Elmer

Also consider to use the built in Calculix thermomechanical solver (displacement caused by the temp-change are also computed) for comparison. With Calculix in FreeCAD the results look like Screenshot from 2017-11-10 18-18-23.png And here the results computed using Elmer compined with FreeCAD: Screen...

Re: from freecad .fcstd format to Elmer

I used the unstable 0.17 version of FreeCAD for the shown example (daily ppa on ubuntu; or use the https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/releases/tag/0.17_pre if you are on windows) If you want to construct and mesh you plate in FreeCAD and do the model set-up and simulation in ElmerGUI here is a short...

Re: from freecad .fcstd format to Elmer

Unfortunately, the file is still in the native .fcstd format Hi Gary, You can use FreeCAD to define all groups in the mesh and simply export your (with-freecad-generated) GMSH mesh as .unv and import it into ElmerGui after transferring it with ElmerGrid. Alternatively, you can use the current devel...
