Since 9 dec. 2013 there is a nice video on youtube showing a simulation involving friction, contact and a moving blunt object:

Does anyone know where to find the source files of this example?

Re: ElmerGUI Portable
I noticed there is no portable version for the current version Elmer. Are there any plans for this? I would very much appreciate a portable version.

Re: Solar radiation incident on a boundary plus convection
The keyword to search for is "heat flux". You can find it in the Elmer Models Manual or on this forum:

That, combined with the last thing you said.

Re: GiD problem type
Matthias,
I've been using Salome 7.3.0 under Windows 7 on the job this week for about a few hours tops. No crashes or hangups so far.

Re: GiD problem type - SOLVED
Problem solved!
I totally missed that Salome has been published for Windows 64 bit since August 2013. This gave me the opportunity to use this software on my employee's notebook. I followed the steps on http://www.elmerfem.org/elmerwiki/index ... e_to_Elmer and it worked!

Re: GiD problem type
Same problem here. Due to a multiple body problem with double surfaces (which unfortunately GMSH cannot handle without problems, either due to limitations of the "cut and merge" function or crashes during the 2D meshing) I ended up trying the evaluation version of GiD. I tried to follow tu...

Could you give the color scale for this image?Rep wrote:The blue represents pressures of around 5e-7 Pa - a few decibels in water.
Did you already tried decreased the convergence tolerances? Does this affect the shape or scale of the pressure distribution?

Look at the beam.sif file included in the "Test for rotating elasticity matrix" ; Header CHECK KEYWORDS Warn Mesh DB "." "beam3d" Include Path "" Results Directory "" End Simulation ! Max Output Level = 3 Output Caller = True Coordinate System = &quo...

Re: Rotating inner ring / Normal-tangential boundary
Peter,
Thank you for the (very fast) response. I'll try your solution as soon as I get the Windows laptop back (not mine, but running all the GUI and Post stuff). My own PC runs Linux and I still haven't been able to build all Elmer components from source, but that's another topic.
Regards,
Jeroen

Rotating inner ring / Normal-tangential boundary
I'm doing a simple test-case on rotating boundaries in context of the Navier-Stokes solver. The long-term goal is to analyse the heat transfer in mechanical seals. The ring is a fluid body with internal diameter of 60mm, outer diameter of 80mm and height of 10mm. Since the ring was modelled in mm, I...
