Re: thermal analysis of a vacuum chamber

We installed Elmer on 64bit Linux but I still get this error. I was't allowed to use wmware due to the bios manipulation.

Re: thermal analysis of a vacuum chamber

I found that there is a problem with 64 bit Windows version :( There was a path to the newest files here http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/physics/elmer/bin/windows/ but what to do with them? There is no .exe, should I replace the folders? I cannot compile Elmer by my own, it's a cosmos for me. EDIT: ...

Re: thermal analysis of a vacuum chamber

My best computer (Windows 7) is 64 bit, it has 8 GB of memory and Intel i5-3470 CPU@ 3,2 GHz (max 3,6 GHz) processor. It should be good enough... Unfortunatelly, Elmer works as 32 bit program on it... And I read somwhere on this forum that 32 version uses up to 2 GB of memory. ViewFactors.exe uses l...

Re: thermal analysis of a vacuum chamber

I checked - I used iterative solver BiCGStab. After your post I tried also direct solvers and other iterative solvers but I get the same error all the time (even when I changed my computer to a much better one).

Re: thermal analysis of a vacuum chamber

Hi, I managed to deal with the result file - its structure is explained in Solver Manual. Now I'm trying to use the Diffuse Gray option of Radiation. I don't fill any field in the Radiation Settings section (emissivity is set in Material Properities). The View Factors are computed to a file but I go...

Re: thermal analysis of a vacuum chamber

Peter,
where can I find the DistanceSolver? I don't see it neither in Elmer nor in the manuals.

Matthias,
ParaView on my Windows is unstable, I got many errors when I click on some of the icons. But this version is better then the previous one I had which was unexpectadely closing up.

Re: thermal analysis of a vacuum chamber

Thanks Matthias, I will never guess to do it this way :) I see the solver now but I realised that I have to put all the coordinates in SaveCoordinates field. The problem is I don't know these numbers. So I looked into the .ep file and what is nice is that there are names of my boundaries (I want onl...

Re: thermal analysis of a vacuum chamber

Hi, I understand how to write the results to .vtk file, but to be honest I don't like ParaView. I thought of using Save Scalars option as my problem is similar to this of that guy http://www.elmerfem.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2943&start=0&hilit=save+scalars&sid=738e89901764188259...

Re: thermal analysis of a vacuum chamber

Thanks Matthias, something works! I mean I have some results and not only errors ;) If the heating object has outer surfaces you can just set them to a constant temperature using a boundary condition. It is what I needed! I tried to do this in BodyForce but in BoundaryConditions it finally works. Yo...

Re: thermal analysis of a vacuum chamber

Hi, there is some progress in my simulation. I managed to create more boundary surfaces. In Salome, besides creating volume groups for geometry and mesh, I created also surface/face groups for the outside and inside of my model (now I have only 3 bodies - chamber and 2 viewports). I exported the mes...
