Hi everybody,
i build following STEP File(I also tried to build an IGES) with freecad (0.15). Other models produced by freecad work fine. But I did not find out a way to produce a mesh (or a body) in ElmerGUI. Can someone say what is wrong with this STEP file?

Re: Simulation of a thermal deposition process
Hello Sebastien,
thank you very much for this idea. I will try this in the next days/week.
Best wishes

Strange Effect in Displacement in Thermal Stress Analysis
Dear all, i tried with a couple of models to simulate the behavior of thermal stresses with transient simualtions (You can find enclosed the most simple example). In this example one site (on of the smaller ones) is mechanical fixed and have also a fixed temperature (Groundplate). On the opposite si...

Re: Simulation of a thermal deposition process
Dear Sebastien, Dear anybody else thank for your response. I am looking forward to hear your progress. Since my last reply I have programmed some realy simple discrete element simulation (I hope honestly that I have not simplified the problem to much ) for cylindrical geometries using python. Unfort...

Re: Simulation of a thermal deposition process
Hello Peter, Hello Anybody Else To keep the things simple I would like to start with simple Geometries, like clinders (20 mm Diameters, 100 mm length). The cyliners are fixed on a supporting plate and are build along the symmetry axis. Therefore I think that the relevant crosssection is simply the u...

Re: Simulation of a thermal deposition process
Hello Peter, I am interested to investigate the processes occuring by Direct Laser Metal Deposition or Laser Engineered Net Shaping (This more or less a variant of welding). This Process simply means deposition of some material (with a given deposition rate which can change also over the time) on po...

Simulation of a thermal deposition process
Hello, I try to simulate a thermal deposition process using transient siumulation. Therefore I think to use passive and active elements in a following way. At a time certain ti I would activate a group i of elements with a certain Temperature Ti and couple that group to the rest of the (active) syst...

Metal forming using Elmer?
Hello Everybody, I working in Material Science and I itend to use Elmer for Material Science Problems. Many of my Projects are dealing with forming of metal sheets and plastic deformation processes like Warm/cold forming, rolling or ECAP-processing. I would like to know if it is possible to use ELME...
