Re: Diaphram displacement on Helmholtz Resonator
Well I finally got the coupling problem straightened out and the simulation runs. The only problem left is pulling out the displacement from the linear solver. I fixed the force on the face of the disk and am trying to pull out the disk displacement with the save scalar solver. So far I get the freq...

Re: Diaphram displacement on Helmholtz Resonator
Hi All, I have been working on this problem, off and on, since the last post. Thank you Kevin for the help on the gmsh problem. I finally have a mesh that should work. I have waffled between use of the Linear Solver and the Plate Solver. I am having problems with both. My present work flow uses Free...

Re: Mesh alignment between disimilar objects
Hi Kevin, I thought I posted this but it never showed up. I finally got everything to work. The results shown below. Screenshot_20230305_175534.png I'm not sure what was wrong with my gmsh setup but when set the options to default suddenly things worked. I also attached a tarball of the whole projec...

Re: Mesh alignment between disimilar objects
Thanks Kevin, Your .pdf file is very specific. Even I should be able to follow it. Unfortunately, when I switched on the Volume bubbles nothing happened. I am using either .brep or .step files exported from FreeCAD as my input to Gmsh. Could that be causing the problem? I went to Geometry > Tools > ...

Re: Mesh alignment between disimilar objects
Hi Kevin, As you suggested, I used Boolean Fragments, unchecked Delete Tools and got the following screen: Screenshot_20230301_161511.png At this point I got lost. I could not figure out how to select the block or the tool. I went ahead and ran coherence on the objects and meshed them. I ran the .ms...

Re: Mesh alignment between disimilar objects
Thank you Kevin. I think this is finally getting to the heart of my problem. One not so minor problem, my copy of gmsh doesn't have boolean options. Could it be in one of the myriad of plugins available? My copy of gmsh was installed from the standard stable Debian package management system. I have ...

Extracting data from Helmholtz Solver
Hi all,
I have no trouble extracting pressure data from my acoustic helmholtz runs. Is it possible to extract flux and displacement data as well?
Gary R.

Re: Diaphram displacement on Helmholtz Resonator
Kevin;
The .geo files definitely solve the edge coincidence problem but end up with only one body. There is no way to assign different materials to the resonator and the diaphragm. Not sure where to go from here.

Re: Diaphram displacement on Helmholtz Resonator
Thanks Rich for the suggestions. The main problem now seems to be the lack of coincidence between the nodes of the face and the nodes of the diaphragm. I have not been able to find a setting in gmsh to correct this nor have I bin able to correct it using -merge 1 with ElmerGrid. I do not have access...
