Re: Meshing the flow but not the pipe

Thank you kevin, Things finally clicked into place. You can't mesh nothing. I used the Part workbench and the pipe primitive. So there was nothing inside the pipe to mesh. Don't know why I didn't get this before. I guess I can blame it on my 6 month bout with vertigo. It's hard to think when you are...

Meshing the flow but not the pipe

Hi all, I have been trying to mesh the air inside of a pipe (iges attached). The pipe was created with FreeCAD. I have gmsh and Netgen and have tried both. I seem to be missing something. The general problem is how to mesh voids. I have thought about putting end caps on the tube but have tried to me...

Re: FreeCAD .step file doesn't mesh

Sorry. I got sidetracked and lost the thread on this one. The gmsh file format needs to be changed to 2 instead of 10. You can find this change in the "Help > Current Options" file. This produces a .unv file but the mesh produced by gmsh has several glitches in the mesh if I start with a .s...

Adding to egmaterials.xml file

It is pretty obvious how to manually add an entry to the egmaterials.xml file but has anyone compiled a more extensive list of materials that could replace the old list? Also, are the dimensions of the parameters all in MKS units?

Re: FreeCAD .step file doesn't mesh

Thanks for the reply. I tried using FreeCAD to gmsh to ElmerGrid to ElmerGUI. I did the meshing with gmsh and converting .msh to .mesh with ElmerGrid 14 2. The meshing seemed to work fine but ElmerGUI refused to accept the .mesh files. I got the following error: Loading elmer mesh files Unknown elem...

FreeCAD .step file doesn't mesh

Hi all, Debian 10 host with Linux Elmer/Mint guest on VirtualBox. AMD64 x 4 processor. Using FreeCAD 0.19 AppImage and the latest ElmerGUI, I have been trying to setup a Helmholtz resonator for some audio simulations. I built the resonator with FreeCAD and exported the file as a .step file. ElmerGUI...

Problem with accessing Elmer ppa

Debian has started tightening up on security of late. Because of this I can no longer download from Elmer ppa. I get the following" root@ctech:/etc/apt# add-apt-repository ppa:elmer-csc-ubuntu/elmer-csc-ppa Archive for the monolithic Elmer FEM software ubuntu packages. More info: https://launch...

Re: Debian removal of Qt4 in Bullseye and beyond

Re: kevinarden's remark about Debian continuing to furnish QT4. There was a detailed letter from the Debian maintainers that I read some months ago that outlined why they won't do that. The bottom line is that Qt4 is no longer being maintained up stream and it is getting very hard to update packagin...
