Re: Help with import of mesh-files from the format .unv
Sorry; I chose the files randomly, to be small enough to fit the 1MB restriction for upload to this forum. I am not sure of exactly what those .msh and .unv files relate to, given the very large experimental space I described traversing in my prior post. Please import the .stp geometry into Elmer, g...

Re: Help with import of mesh-files from the format .unv
Thanks for the quick replies and requests for meshes. Here are some examples; the .msh are from Gmsh, and the .unv are from Salome; and of course you can always just import the earlier .stp geometry file into Elmer and see how Elmer meshes it, and then gives similar results to what I found. Some of ...

Re: Help with import of mesh-files from the format .unv
TOPIC: Still Mesh Import; but more generally, Elmer and Mesh Simulation Accuracies and Compatibilities. Hello Peter; thanks for the request for the 'minimalistic example'; Following upon the above conversation thread, the Elmer tutorial for elasticity has an already-meshed beam to work with. Replaci...

Re: Help with import of mesh-files from the format .unv
Thank you all for looking into the problem I had with importing Quad meshes from Salome. So it seems that Salome does not export quadratic meshes correctly, rather than Elmer not importing correctly. That's good to know. I have been looking into varieties of meshing while running the Elmer beam elas...

Re: How to bring into Elmer GUI several Bodies?
Ahh; I had seen that article but did not realise that these partitions would yield separate bodies. I just tried this method and it works! The current Salome GUI differs from that in the article but it was not too hard to figure out. Thanks!

How to bring into Elmer GUI several Bodies?
I am using SolidWorks to draw up several bodies in a vacuum enclosure, which radiate between each other. I export a STEP file and import into Salome for meshing, then into Elmer GUI using the .unv format. However at this point Elmer sees it all as one body so I can't set separate Body conditions. Ho...

Re: Files related to the GUI tutorials available for download
RADIATION EXAMPLE REQUEST: GUI tutorials could be improved by including one on radiation between bodies; I have been trying to get that right without success. I have placed a small disk inside a metal enclosure and set the radiant heat flux from the disk at a fixed value, and expect the simulation t...

Re: Help with import of mesh-files from the format .unv
Hello Peter. Here is a cylinder, meshed with tets in Salome and with one Quad mesh which had the middle points unattached to the geometry. Importing this small mesh into Elmer GUI did not crash it; but resulted in no import and a blank screen. Another user has replied on the Salome site that ... &qu...

Re: Help with import of mesh-files from the format .unv
Quadratic mesh import trouble ... I also have been having trouble importing .unv files into Elmer, from Salome. The regular tetrahedral and hexahedral meshes import into Elmer correctly. However no quadratic mesh will import; Elmer GUI crashes every time. I am using Windows 7 for all of this. Has an...
