ElmerGUI crashes on some meshes...
Hi all I am running ElmerGUI on a MacBook Pro (~4 yrs old) with Maverick OS. I am able to load some meshes, and some other meshes cause ElmerGUI to crash. All meshes look fine in gmsh. I am using the commands gmsh -3 -algo del3d _____.geo ElmerGrid 14 2 ____.msh to convert the gmsh geometry file int...

Re: Problem with ElmerGrid partitioning
OK, I found the solution on another post -- use "-removeunused" to the ElmerGrid command line.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Problem with ElmerGrid partitioning
Hello I am trying to create mesh partitioning using command line ElmerGrid. It works fine for most of my meshes, except one. I'm attaching the original gmsh GEO file. I use ElmerGrid 14 2 Erebus.msh -partition 2 2 1 and then I am getting the following output: Making a simple partitioning for 1920685...

Converge on 1st iteration, then Nan in second?
Hello What are possible reasons that my model seems to converge OK in the first Navier-Stokes iteration, but then starts right away with NaN residuals in the second? Here's the output: .... : 25 0.1305E-05 0.1305E-05 : 26 0.5092E-06 0.5092E-06 : 27 0.8435E-07 0.8435E-07 : 28 0.1305E-07 0.1305E-07 : ...

Re: problem with VTK output
Upon further investigation, it appears that the output.dat file doesn't contain the same number of entries as the number of mesh nodes in the Pressure/Temperature/Viscosity point data sections... It contains much less -- 110021 entries instead of 110485 -- as I suppose is suggested by the line: Perm...

problem with VTK output
Hello For some reason, some of my models output VTK files that have small "mutations". For example, a few extra lines of zeros instead of the actual values. Also I sometimes get an error from Paraview saying that the number of data points doesn't match the declaration. The values in the ou...

Re: 2D model with out-of-plane forcing
Hi Peter
You are correct. This is a purely laminar flow, now turbulence. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

2D model with out-of-plane forcing
Hello I am modeling flow in an "infinite" pipe, and would like to solve only a two-dimensional model, yet have the body force be parallel to the pipe's direction. Till now, I've been solving the full 3D model, but it seems like a waste, since there are no changes along the pipe. Any way to...

Re: All-nodes boundary condition
Thanks. So something like this: Solver 2 Equation = String "DataToFieldSolver" Procedure = File "DataToFieldSolver" "DataToFieldSolver" Variable = String "Temperature" Data Field Name = String "t.dat" End This doesn't seem to work. I get Model Input:...
