Installation on openSUSE 13.1
Hi, I compiled Elmer without errors. However, I couldn't install a functional ElmerGUI on my openSUSE 13.1 64bit. Opening some meshes make it freeze and when not freezing, the solver doesn't respond: Verbose on Run > Start server: Solver emitted signal: QProcess::ProcessState: 1 Solver emitted signa...

Re: GiD problem
I though I had to remesh.
Thanks,

GiD problem
With GiD, I can load the mesh with load project and load mesh. But no simulation seems to be functional. When I remesh, the mesh disapears. Here is the log. On Ubuntu with updated version elmer 6.1.0.svn.5396.dfsg-2ubuntu1 and GiD problem type available here: http://www.csc.fi/english/pages/elmer/in...

Re: 3D mesh from point cloud
Gary,
Will Netgen or Elmer be able to generate the tetrahedrons inside the surface stl mesh created using Blender?
Thanks,
Serge-Éti.

Re: 3D mesh from point cloud
Hello, I found an interesting Blender plugin called Point Cloud Skinner ( http://www.blendernation.com/2012/01/12/python-script-point-cloud-skinner/ ). As for Qhull, it seems to be also available in R ( http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/geometry/index.html ) and Python ( http://pypi.python.org/...

3D mesh from point cloud
Is someone aware if there is a library somewhere that can generate a structured or unstructured mesh with 3D elements (e.g. tetrahedral) from a xyz point cloud?

Re: [SOLVED] Repair mesh
Hello Matthias,
I iteratively tried several settings in Gmsh. I finally used Delaunay as 2D algorithm and Frontal as 3D algorithm. Please refer to the screen capture for details. I emailed GID last week about this issue. No news yet.
Regards.

Re: Repair mesh
It seems I didn't saved the mesh in Elmer format before modelling. My issues left are on the mesh generation side, so out of topic here.
Thanks anyways!

Re: Repair mesh
I have tried several unsuccessful solutions. First, Netgen crashes in Ubuntu when it is asked to mesh a healed step file. Salomé in Ubuntu can't load the Geometry module. Netgen in Windows can not import step or iges files without the addition of a module - that should be able to download from CVS, ...
