Re: Looking for someone to introduce Elmer to my company
Hi, small addition: you mght have evalutated that already: if the comany has a commercial CAD system and just wants to use FEA for mechanics, it might be an alternative to look if there exists an integrated FEA module for the CAD system. Solidworks, for example, has such a module. Of course this wou...

Re: problems with electro-thermal simulation
Hi, did you solve your problem in the meantime? Otherwise I had a short curious look at your sif and found that you do not do "coordinate scaling = 0.001" in the Simulation section. So if your geometry (which I did not check) is defined in mm, you would have to add the above command since ...

Re: Reading gmsh mesh with elmer (ElmerGrid/Elmer GUI)
Hi Peter,
this is good news! So finally ElmerGUI-only users will not need to go to the command line in case of problems with mesh import.
Just by curiosity: Is this a new fork of ElmerGrid or will ElmerGUI and ElnerGrid have a shared codebase in the future?

Re: Internal boundary
Hi, in ElmerGUI, you can select the outer surfaces and use View->Hide/Show selected. Then the outer surfaces are hidden and you should be able to see the inner ones. You can also look for a file mesh.names which should be created when the mesh file cre1ated by Salomé is imported. In the file you wil...

Hi,
did you have a look on glacier simulation with Elmer/Ice? I don't have any experience with it myself, and I don't know to which extent they are comparable, but at least in both cases you have a thick fluid flowing over ground...

Re: ElmerGUI not correctly importing GMSH mesh
Ah ok, I thought the system call to native ElmerGrid might be a shortcut/workaround.

Re: ElmerGUI not correctly importing GMSH mesh
Hi,
as this problem occurs not so unfrequently and generates questions by ElmerGUI users on the forum, wouldn't it be an option to just replace the ElmerGrid plugin by a system call to the native ElmerGrid (with default option autoclean) in ElmerGUI?

Re: Very short heating: Heat solver artifact?
Hi, in fact this case was intended to be a pre-study. In my "real" case, the heating is done by a current through Joule heating. So I have very short current pulses (of the order of 3 us, repeated e.g. every 50 us) and want to examine the heating of the material. I have run the case with t...

Hi,
which file did you use for your installation?
If you open a terminal and type ElmerSolver, what does it say?
