Re: Application fields of Elmer

Hi Elmer Team, Mainly I use Elmer for MagnetoStatic and MagnetoDynamic. Recently I use magneto analisys combined whith mesh adaptation in order to analize different set-up whith only one mesh model or transient analisys with structural coupling. Acoustic in the past that involves free mode structura...

Re: magnetostatic with mesh morphing

Thank you for your replay. On Next Monday I'll try it. Obviously, I Think that coluld also be possible to use those Forces as loads for a subsequent structural analysis.
In order to share the case, how could I upload the mesh that is great than the size limit?

magnetostatic with mesh morphing

In this little example I'll resolve the magnetic field around an horseshoe permanent magnet. Interesting, in my opinion, are the way in which the magnetization Body force is given and the mesh update in order to fast evaluate different iron position between the magnet and the ferromagnetic bar. The ...

Re: Need help in magnetostatic analysis

ok. I foud the mistake.
The coil current have to be done in A/m^2:

$ iC = 33.867E+06 ! [A/m^2]

Sorry...

Re: Need help in magnetostatic analysis

just a clarification: the value in the image: 355.2428 [MA/m^3], is the value used in the sif file as body force for the coil: ... omissis ... $ iC = 353.4457E+06 ! [A/m^3] ... omissis ... Body Force 1 Current Density 1 = Variable coordinate Real MATC "-iC*tx(1)/sqrt(tx(0)*tx(0)+tx(1)*tx(1))" Curren...

Need help in magnetostatic analysis

Hi all, I would simulate the magnetic field in a log coil. In the attached image you could find the good results between the 2D free software FEMM and the analytical result. Unfortunatelly, for the Elmer I found an internal magnetic flux density about 10 time higher. In the attache the sif input file.

force computation in magnetostatic analysis

I would like to know if it is possible to compute the forces acting on components in magnetostatic analysis.
In particular I simulate the activatio of a reed switch (see image in attached).
The question is, is it possible to compute the forces actin on the lamellae?

Thank you in advance.

comparison between different solvers

In the last week I perform some benchmark analisys between Elmer to CalculiX and laplacianFOAM for a simple thermal Laplace case. The results appear to be quite different mostly for thermal flux. The case files are in the attached while a short document describe the case and summarize the results. A...

which Power load in axialsimmetrical analisys?

In a thermic analisys I have a coil that dissipate a power of 1.3W.
In thermic analisys the body force may be given in W per unit mass.
But, in an axial symmetric model, do I should divide the power per unit mass by 2Pi?

Thanks Alex

some post-processing on the fly in Elmer

At present I'm playing a bit whit acoustic analisys. The results are post-processed in Paraview. Please have a look to the attached picture: mode_13th_4000KHz.jpg Extract the isosurface at some value of the sound pressure level (SPL) could be a long task in Paraview for very large 3d model (about 1M...
