Re: help for installing Elmer 64bits on Windows 7

I'd echo Matthias' comments that a large amount of your users will use Windows, presumably because being open source means that people starting out/seeing if FEA can provide some useful information will be reasonably new to conducting simulations. That was certainly the case for us when we started w...

Re: help for installing Elmer 64bits on Windows 7

Sebastien, did you solve your problems? I'm trying to install/create a 64 bit version on Win 7, though am really not sure what to do! Is the correct process to install 32 bit, then replace the \bin folder with the one from the 64 bit download? I guess installing MinGW-w64 really is required(?), whic...

Re: Application of stress as a bodyforce

Peter, Thank You for your reply.

Setting "Geometric Stiffness = Logical True" has had no effect on the results.

Is my stress B.C. correct? how does Elmer know that the input is for only stress xx, should I add '',0,0,0''etc for the other components of the stress?

No comments on the bodyforce application, particularly on the above?

Application of stress as a bodyforce

Hello, I'm trying to execute eigenfrequency analysis of a beam with a stress distribution within it. I'm applying the stress distribution as a bodyforce which varies through the beams thickness and along its length. Is it correct to input the stress as a force per unit area? The stress I have applie...

Re: Eigen analysis overwriting displacement in ep file

Thanks Peter,

So theres no way to save both static displacement and eigenmodes, I was hoping it might be possible to add some lines to the sif to get Elmer to save the eigenmodes (or displacements) to a different filename.

Oh well, maybe time to ahve another look at paraview....

Eigen analysis overwriting displacement in ep file

Howdy,

recently, I've been using elmer for some eigenmode analysis. Unfortunately when using this after the linear elasticity model (for displacements) the results for the eigenmodes seem to overwrite the displacements in the ep file. Is there a simple workaround?

My sif file is attached.

Re: lost input when loading project

If you modify the sif file via the text editor, when you reload at a later date the GUI will automatically re-generate the sif file from the contents of the GUI's menus. Is that what you're talking about? I've fould that quite annoying in the past but just load the sif seperately these days.
